Laserfibre MS200 ECO:  Impressions

Why ECO?/prePurchase | Delivery | Assembly | Mounts | Setting Desired Tension
Applying Tension to the String | Miscellaneous Pictures | Initial Impression

Judging by the workmanship/build of every component of the stringer, the ECO is a high quality product.  No flimsy parts that can easily break off.  Everything fits nicely.  Everything is ruggedly solid and stable.    That probably lends to Stringway/Laserfibre's confidence to back their products with a 10 year warranty which is quite a bit more than other brand stringers.

I've strung my racquets with it and everything turned out very well each time.  There are no problems with blocked holes from any of the supports.   The racquet is held securely and didn't shift or twist during the stringing process.

The constant pull tensioning mechanism is a breeze to use.   It works and works very well.  Unlike most other drop weights, there is no need to keep the weight lever absolutely horizontal or level to get the correct reference tension.

The flying clamps are solid and hold the strings securely without slippage or damage to the strings.  They are easy to apply and remove.   Adjustments to accommodate varying string thicknesses is very easy with the thumbwheel adjustment knob.

It is a topnotch
quality stringer that works remarkably well.

The stringer came with a couple of basic tools.  A pair of needle nose pliers and a cutter.  Simple but effective.  That's really all I needed to complete my string job.

The manual?  Don't spend too much time with it.   You can pretty much figure it out on your own or just call Tim at Lasefibre.   He'd be more than happy to help you.

Stringing the mains is straightforward.  Doing the crosses is a little more complicated and took a little longer.  I have to make sure that I start the weave correctly (over or under) with respect to the previous cross. I've also made it a practice to check each cross after each weave.  Jumping over or missing a main would mean having to remove and redo the weave.  If you miss it altogether and only realize it after completing the string job, then it would mean having to redo it all over again.

I'm happy with my pace of a little over an hour when I string my racquets.  I can reduce my stringing time a bit but I'm not in a race.  Reduction of stringing time won't be of any benefit to me if the quality of the string job suffers.  I'd rather take my time and do it right.

VERDICT:

I'm very happy with the purchase.  It is a topnotch quality stringer that works remarkably well.   It really does work as advertised!

A point of emphasis is customer support.  Support from Tim Sullivan of Laserfibre is outstanding.  He is willing to spend time with you however long it takes to answer all your questions.  This includes helping you with the whole process of stringing your racquet from start to finish!  That's unheard of these days.  Luckily for him, I didn't have to tie him up on the phone.  I was able to do it on my own without getting stuck.  =)

Now that I string my own racquets, I feel that I have a bit more control in exploring the different possibilities of improving my game.
