Inject an NTSC dot/crosshatch signal and set the customer picture
control to ¾ range.
Set the focus control for the CRT being adjusted to give the smallest
possible dots at the center of the screen (right edge as viewed from the back of the set
when adjusting the blue CRT).
Turn the focus control counterclockwise until a halo appears around the
bright core of the dots.
While viewing a dot near the center of the screen, adjust the 2-pole
magnets on the neck of the CRT assembly so that the bright core is in the center of the
surrounding halo.
Turn the focus control clockwise past best focus to a point at which the
dot becomes a blob.
Adjust the 4-pole magnets on the neck of the CRT assembly to make the
spot as nearly round as possible.
Readjust the focus control to obtain the smallest, best-defined spot.
Note: If an NTSC generator is used for this adjustment, the spot might be slightly
rectangular.
