Below is for ANALOG sets (not for HDTV sets) but as a service to our readers, I figure
I'd post the info for those who might be affected.
- After receiving 45 complaints, four resulting
in minor property damage, Zenith has recalled some large screen TV's.
The company says a tear in the gasket can cause coolant fluid to
leak from the picture tube assembly. This can cause smoking, charring and electrical
arcing inside the TV posing a fire hazard to consumers.
The sets have 46-40 inch screens and were made from April 1995
through July 1997 and August 1998 through November 1998. The manufacture date can be found
on a sticker on the back of the TV set. The screens sold for between $1,200 and $2,000
from April 1995 through April 1999.
Sets made after 1998 are not involved in this recall. Call
