Dimple
is my nickname.
Born in Santa Cruz, Laguna on the 23rd of January 1964.
Raised by my parents Atty. Pedro G. Macalos of Lumban and Angelita A. Balasico, who is a
native of Santa Cruz.
I am the second son in the family of three boys between
Norman, the eldest and Christian the youngest in the family.
I graduated from PGMHS in the year of 1980 and in 1984 I
earned my Bachelors Degree in Commerce Major in Accounting and Auditing from San Beda
College in Mendiola, Manila.
I passed the Philippine licensure examination for
Certified Public Accountants in May of 1986 while working with the Philippine Commercial
International Bank in Makati, Metro Manila as a Branch Accountant.
In February of 1992, I grab this opportunity to migrate to
the United States of America. I got employed from the nations largest company in the
Egg Breaking Industry business named Papettis Hygrade Egg Products, Inc. in
Elizabeth, New Jersey, a subsidiary of Michael Foods, Inc. based in Minneapolis,
Minnesota.
I am working as a Senior Accountant up to the present. As
of this time, I am still pursuing my CPA license here in State of New Jersey.
Four years ago, I got married to my long time college
sweetheart Ninian R. Estrella and a schoolmate of mine from kindergarten all the way to
high school. She is an achitecture graduate from Adamson University and currently working
in a firm of James Guerra Architects as an Intern Architect. A daughter of Levy Estrella
of Malolos, Bulacan and Virginia Ramos from Santa Cruz. We share a 3 1/2 years old son
named Kevin Roenian E. Macalos who was born here in the US. I would say that he is
our little Roehl and Ninian.
High school days are the most exciting days of my life.
The Junior and Senior Prom that reminds me of my first dance, the PGMHS Band thats
been always a part of my daily National Anthem while playing the familiar tune with my
alto saxophone.
Boy scouts camping at Lake Caliraya, Corrigedor and Mt.
Makiling with all that kind of thrills and excitement. The "Tagisan ng Talino sa
Guevara 80" sponsored by the The Pterocarpus Clan where our team placed second and
most of all is the "Kabataang Barangay" famous stage play "Ama" in
which myself performed one of the primary role in stage play acting. It was even aired on
local TV shows "KB-Kaibigan" as hosted by the actor Roderick Paulate.
I have so many funny memories during my high school days
at PGMHS. There was a time when I used to hang out with my best friend Glenn Atayan and
was not able to prepare for the next day exams. Mrs. Minerva Javier, our teacher in World
History caught me and my classmate Edmon Pinon who seated behind me with the usual
"kodigo" during one of her periodic examinations. I was really shaking and felt
very nervous on the fact that I might be busted to the whole class. But lucky enough that
nothing happened during that moment. It was kept hidden to the whole class and served as a
lesson to myself from now on. I always said to myself that I will never ever do that
again.
One of my biggest dream in life is to finish my college
education. That is what every parents goal for their children. I always remember my
parents famous line that served as an inspiration for myself and helped me to achieve my
goals in life. "Anak, isang bagay lamang ang hihilingin ko sa iyo, Nakiki-usap sana
ako na magtapos ka muna sa pag-aaral bago ang lahat.....Palagi mo sanang iisipin na iba
ang taong may pinag-aralan at iyan ang isang bagay na maipag-mamalaki mo sa iyong magiging
anak." My eyes well up in tears whenever I'm reminded of it. I always wish that
my Dad is still alive so that he can see me where am I now and to meet my son Kevin that
he never saw in his life. In the near future, I am planning to establish my own Accounting
Firm and the name "Macalos & Associates, Inc." will be posted accross the
country specifically the eastern part of the US.
I would say that life here in the United States is
very different from the Philippines in the sense that you have to be on your own. Every
day is a struggle but I've learned to stand on my own feet.
I wanted to share these thoughts with the younger ones
hoping they will serve as inspiration and guide for their future. Always listen to your
parents for they only want the very best for you. |
